Shravan Maas is the holiest month of the Hindu calendar. The month begins in late July from the first day of the full moon and ending on the day of the next full moon. This year, it starts on Tuesday 21st July and ends on Sunday 30th August 2020.
The month of Shravan is very important for the entire sub-continent of India as it is connected to the arrival of the South-West monsoons. For many Hindus, the month of Shravan is a month of fasting. Many Hindus will fast every Monday to Lord Shiva and/or every Tuesday to the Goddess Parvati. Fasting on Tuesdays of this month is known locally as “Mangala Gauri Vrat”.
Samaj members Bansri and Vanisha Bhogaita will be hosting a free online Zoom Rudram Meditation every Monday at 8pm BST for the whole month of Shravan, starting this Monday 20th July, 2020. All Samaj members and anyone are welcome to join.
From ancient times, Sri Rudram is a set of mantras that evokes and pays respect to the the Shiva principle in the Universe. This month of Shravan is dedicated to Lord Shiva – “Shravan” means ‘to listen’.
By listening to these mantras, they do not only help us to grow spiritually, but to achieve everything that we desire in our material life. Rudram is the most powerful tool to bring peace in the environment and within yourself.
Don’t worry about the meaning of the Sanskrit words..the secrets lie in experiencing the vibrations.
As these are meditation sessions, you are advised to join on time and stay for the full session each Monday. Each session is expected to be approximately 45 minutes. Viewers will not be allowed to join after 5 minutes of the introduction start.
